LECTURE SYNOPSIS:
In the lecture, Mr. Mike Harris will recount his fascinating personal experiences that occurred while producing a number of interesting (some historic) documentary feature films. He will describe his Zheng He research with Ming Historians in Beijing. Then he will be sharing why he think Zheng He's historic expeditions are inexorably linked to life around the world today and to the historic One Belt One Road initiatives.

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY:
Hollywood producer, famous international explorer, writer and scholar of international navigation history.
The legend of Mike Harris began in his youth when he won the best student of the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) in 1958. As a prolific writer, he has published 15 books. As an outstanding producer and writer of Hollywood, he has independently created 15 films and TV plays and 3 plays cooperating with others, and 7 films and TV works have been published. In particular, documentaries such as "Searching for Titanic" and the long film literary work SILK DRAGON
"Silk Dragon" which reflects Zheng He's seven voyages to the Western Ocean have been widely praised by the industry. As a research explorer, he has explored more than 20 countries and regions in the North Atlantic, Syria, Jordan, Marshall Islands and so on in the 43-year long period from 1972 to 2015, and has conducted in-depth and outstanding research on 15 major exploration topics. For example, since 1981, Zheng He's navigation problems in the 15th century have been studied in cooperation with Chinese experts. Mike Harris is also a senior member of many famous international associations, such as the National Geographic Association, the Royal Geographic Society, the American Association of Television and Radio Actors, and so on. He has been on the List of Who’s who in America three times (2005, 2006, 2007). His works won the silver prize at the Atlanta International Film Festival (1973).
