内容简介:
While the term “big data” is relatively new, the act of gathering and storing large amounts of information for eventual analysis is ages old. Big data is a field that deals with data sets that are too large or complex to be dealt with by traditional data-processing application software. There are 2.5 quintillion bytes of data created each day at our current pace, but that pace is only accelerating with the growth of the Internet of Things (IoT). Over the last two years alone 90 percent of the data in the world was generated. Coupled with AI, Big data has many implications for the companies, the people and the States.
Thus, the challenge for the administrations is clear: how do regulate such large amounts of data creation and manipulation? Europe has started to address the issue legally with the GPDR, the Ethic Directive etc and with some concrete realizations such as "Galileo", "Copernicus" and an European Telecom Integration.
Some hypotheses are yet to be discussed furthermore in the EU: What about Health and Green-Data? Which framework forOpendata and Public Statistics? Should the Union adopt a IA Plan? Such questions will doubtlessly shape the future of Europe.
