2. Theme: Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs)
The Sustainable Development Goals, otherwise known as the Global Goals, are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. The SDGs were initiated by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015 for the year 2030, and consist of 17 global goals. The 17 goals build on the successes of the Millennium Development Goals, while including new areas such as climate change, economic inequality, innovation, sustainable consumption, peace and justice, among other priorities.
Each team of participants should focus on a case topic that is relevant to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. You are supposed to showcase your policy knowledge and application through the analysis of a public policy case study concerning sustainability topics. You have the opportunity to pick an issue in local community or one that affects people around the world. The topic you focus on should allow you to investigate an issue from various aspects, but it should not be too broad.
