Established in 1911, Tsinghua University is one of China's most prestigious universities, dedicated to advancing the nation and the world through teaching, research, and innovation. Tsinghua SPPM, founded in 2000, is the first graduate school of public policy in China.
The School's mission is to become a world-class institution actively engaging in teaching, research, and consultation on global public affairs. Tsinghua SPPM is committed to training future generations of scholars and professionals in public affairs with a global perspective and strong social commitment. It also aims to constitute a global forum for discussing critical challenges, sharing innovative ideas and wisdom, and fostering dialogue and collaboration between China and the world, in hopes of achieving lasting peace, prosperity, equity, and sustainability for humankind.
Over the years, Tsinghua SPPM has emerged as a leading academic institution in China and established extensive partnerships with international organizations and academic institutions worldwide. The school has built a diverse, interdisciplinary faculty, currently comprising over 60 faculty members working in public policy and governance, public management, NGO studies, and global governance. Our faculty members have significantly contributed to the intellectual development of public policy and management and the formulation and implementation of public policies in China.
The school currently offers three degree programs in Chinese, including Master of Management, Master of Public Administration (MPA), and Ph.D. programs, and six Master's programs in English, including Master of Public Administration in International Development (MID), International Master of Public Administration (IMPA), Master of Public Administration in International Development and Governance (MIDG), Master of Public Policy for Sustainable Development Goals (MPP-SDG), International Master of Public Administration in the Belt and Road Initiative (IMPA-BRI), and International Master of Public Administration for Future Leaders (IMPA-Future Leaders). The school also provides numerous executive training programs for over 80,000 officials from central ministries, agencies, and local governments.
Tsinghua SPPM strives to establish a world-class think-tank cluster in China. The school has co-initiated research centers with multiple central government agencies devoted to policy research in areas such as service economy, development and planning, science and technology policy, sustainable development goals, environmental governance, public-private partnership, rural studies, philanthropy, risk assessment and crisis management, and big data and e-governance.
