On April 24th, 20 IMPA students visited the Tsinghua History Gallery. As part of Tsinghua University’s 103rd anniversary celebration, this visit was to help students learn more about the history of the university. LI Xin from the Volunteer Organization of Tsinghua provided a detailed introduction.
Before entering the hall of exhibition, Tsinghua’s development has already been displayed on a “time carpet”. “1911, 1912,……”, over a century of Tsinghua’s history was engraved on a bronze timeline.
In the hall, students witnessed Tsinghua’s development through the combination of literal and graphic representations, which included many valuable photographs and historical materials, such as registration record cards, transcripts and thesis. Different stages of Tsinghua’s development also signified China’s transformation over the past century, for lots of Tsinghua students and professors played an important role in promoting the development of China. Students expressed that they felt very proud of being a member of Tsinghua University.
In the end, students stepped out of the exhibition hall through the “time carpet” again. It didn’t cease at the year of 2014 but stretched upward to “2020, 2050, and 2111”. With the increasing number of international students in Tsinghua University, the international group would be more influential and thus make contribution to the new hundred years of Tsinghua’s development.
