A 40-member delegation led by Georgia Governor, Sonny Perdue visited Tsinghua University to give a guest lecture entitled “Open for Business: the International Spotlight of the Olympic Games”. Vice-dean of SPPM Wang Youqiang hosted a luncheon for the delegation which included government officials from Georgia, senior leaders from Georgia Tech University, University of Georgia and many teachers and students.
In his lecture, Governor Perdue shared his experience of hosting the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympic Games and how it brought about many business opportunities. He talked about ‘bringing the experience of organizing an Olympic Games and to wish the Beijing Olympic Games a complete success’ The Governor advised Beijing to seize the opportunity to promote the city and encourage long-term development. In addition, the Governor answered many question from students ranging from the financing of the Olympic Games to labor issues.
