Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange office, Ms Meng Bo and a group of students from SPPM participated in the second PolicyNet global video lecture seminar. It was presented by Professor Thomas Homer-Dixon, who is Chair of the Global Systems at Balsillie School of International Affairs in Waterloo and also Professor of University of Waterloo. The topic was on the ‘Seriousness of climate and energy problems in the coming century’. Following his presentation, students posed a range of topical questions regarding the appropriateness of existing global institutions, the challenge of addressing climate change in turbulent financial times, and role of the next US administration in combating climate change and changing energy policies.
This seminar was held with students from the University of Waterloo; Wilfrid Laurier University; Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Princeton University; Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore; School of public Policy and Management, Tsinghua University; Crawford Schools of Economics and Government, Australian National University; and guest school Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University from Japan.
