Introduction:
The lecture is going to look beyond economic development in China, Korea and Japan to the historical experience of these countries, and then explores what makes them relevant as economic powers today from long-term historical perspectives. The lecture is also going to concern the West’s impact in these countries economical development in history.
Bio:
Dr. Jeroen Pieter Lamers is the economic and commercial Counselor of the Embassy of Kingdom of Netherlands. He graduated from the Research Center of Japanese and Korean Language and Cultures of Leiden University as a PhD majoring political economic study in Japan and East Asia in 1998. Dr. Lamers was the former chief staff of the Netherlands Ministry of Economic Affairs, and Innovation. Being an expert in political economic research of Japan and Northeast Asia, he also served as the industrial counselor of Netherlands in both Japan and Korea. Dr. Lamers published a series of works in study of Japanese and East Asian political economy.
