On March 22nd, 29 IMPA 2014 students exchange students went sightseeing of Yuan Ming Yuan Park, also known as the Old Summer Palace. It is world famous for its extensive collection of garden and building architectures and other works of art.
Students first entered the streets of China’s Traditional Culture, where various traditional arts and handicrafts, such as sugar-coated figurine, folding fan and cloth shoes were shown in small booths. It aroused great interest of the international students and made them feel like standing in the downtown street of Qing Dynasty of China.
Then, students visited the ruins of pavilion and stone arch. These destroyed architectures indicated a special period of Chinese history, when the palace was burned during the war. Students expressed that it was a great loss for people all over the world but they could still recognize the spectacular design of the imperial gardens in the flouring age and looked forward another trip to the Old Summer Palace again.
