Li Guo is a Senior Agriculture Economist of World Bank,and Member of the Academic Board of China Institute for Rural Studies of Tsinghua University. He obtained Ph.D. in Applied Economics from Stanford University in 1999, MA from the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and BA in Economic Management from Peking University. From 1999 to 2008, Dr. Li worked in the World Bank’s East Asia Region and was engaged in both lending and policy advisory activities in the area of rural development, poverty reduction, and land administration. Since early 2009, Dr. Li has worked in the World Bank Office in Pretoria of South Africa, and has been leading technical assistance on rural development and land reform in South Africa, Mozambique, and agricultural investment project in Lesotho.
Dr. Li has published many articles on both domestic and international academic journals, such as “The American Economic Review” “Journal of Comparative Economics”, and “China Economic Quarterly”. Dr. Li received the “Quality of Research Discovery Award” from the American Agricultural Economics Association in 2003.
