Brantly Womack is Cumming Memorial Professor of Foreign Affairs at Virginia University. Most of his work has been on Chinese and Vietnamese national and international politics, among which his remarkable studies in Mao's political thought have great academic influence in China. Several chapters of his book "Foundations of Mao Zedong's Political Thought" are published full-text on the People's Daily website. He is also honorary professor of Sun Yat-sen University, Jilin University and East China Normal University.
