Abstract:
The world is facing serious challenges. Crises are on the increase: in numbers, complexity, volume and impact, speed, and embeddedness. Crisis management should tackle these crises by means of preventive policies, engaged preparedness, top-level decision-making in the hectic hours and days of acute threat, and distinct post-crisis measures. Spectacular new breakthroughs such as the developments in cyberspace go hand in hand with new threats. Political and corporate leaders should be resolute in safeguarding the positive prospects of these new developments while countering the potential threats.
