On February 26, the Gansu Provincial Party Committee held a group study on the theory and practices of development and governance in Lanzhou. Dean Xue Lan was invited to deliver a presentation titled "China's Development, Transformation, and Innovation-driven Development Strategy".
Professor Xue analyzed the changes in China's development during the transition process from the perspectives of economic, social, industrial structure, social patterns and governance mechanism. He also highlighted China's new development norms, from the aspects of economic growth pillars, market structure, risk and prevention and social development.
Professor Xue emphasized in his presentation that the implementation of China’s innovation-driven growth strategy has achieved some results, and yet with many problems such as insufficient capability for industry innovation; low labor productivity; lack of capacity in technological innovation. From his point of view, the government policy should encourage enterprises to make innovation and form a platform and momentum for innovation-driven development in the future.
