Zhu Xufeng: In what ways can young talents play their parts in the domestic and international arena
On March 30th, Zhu Xufeng, Dean of the School of Public Policy and Management, participated in the "Youth Roundtable" at the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) conference, alongside Asian young entrepreneurs, scientists, and nonprofit organization leaders. Ban Ki-moon, Chairman of the Boao Forum for Asia and 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations, also attended the Youth Roundtable and delivered a speech, urging global youth to play a larger and more significant role in tackling future challenges.
Zhu Xufeng emphasized in his statement that China must coordinate its national rejuvenation strategy with domestic and international needs in the context of once-in-a-century changes. Domestically, China has entered a critical period of comprehensively deepening reform, initiating its path to modernization. Developing a socialist system with Chinese characteristics and enhancing the modernization of the nation's governance system and capabilities have become the primary objectives of the reform. Internationally, China is positioning itself closer to the center of the world stage. Its advocacy for a community with a shared future for humanity, its Belt and Road initiative, and its global development, security, and civilization initiatives are increasingly becoming shared values and foundational principles for innovation in global governance.
Going forward, China will participate more actively in reforming and rebuilding the global governance system. To do so, it must cultivate talented youth who possess a modern and international perspective, as well as the aptitude to understand Chinese governance and global governance.

Alessandro Golombiewski Teixeira: The trading hub and tourism industry will become the two major driving forces for Hainan’s development
Hainan Daily
On March 30th, Alessandro Golombiewski Teixeira told Hainan Daily that people from around the world have moved and settled in Hainan. According to Golombiewski Teixeira, former Special Economic Adviser to the President of Brazil and former Deputy Minister of Development, Industry, and Foreign Trade, this shift has enabled residents to achieve higher living standards in Hainan. "The Hainan we see today is completely different from the Hainan I saw for the first time ten years ago," he says.
Golombiewski Teixeira believes that this change represents Hainan's rising development opportunities, which attract people worldwide. "The reason behind it is intrinsically related to China's economic development, with Hainan being a valuable hotspot with great development potential," he adds.
In Golombiewski Teixeira's view, constructing a global logistics center and modernized basic infrastructure is crucial to Hainan Free Trade Port development. This includes building a smart port and fostering the digital economy to attract investment from global service-oriented enterprises.
He also notes that "Companies like Alibaba and Jingdong can establish sales centers in Hainan. Through Hainan's logistics network, they can sell products manufactured in China to many other places in Asia. At the same time, these enterprises can also apply their big data skills to enhance Hainan's capacity for digitalization." Golombiewski Teixeira believes that the Hainan Free Trade Port's comprehensive nature, including the gateway, logistics center, and trade center, can be interconnected through digitalization skills and techniques, offering significant potential.
He asserts that "This development does not conflict with the tourism industry's growth. Trade, the digital economy, and the modernization of basic infrastructure can further support and improve tourism quality. In this context, Hainan should also utilize its rich natural resources for tourism development, which would, in turn, promote the growth of related industries." He is confident that the trading hub and tourism industry will become the two driving forces for Hainan's economic development in the future.
