The Institute of Taiwan Studies in Tsinghua University was founded in March 1999, and formally changed its name to ‘Institute for Taiwan Studies, Tsinghua University’ (Tsinghua ITS) in September 2014.
Mission and Goals
Tsinghua ITS aims to become a leading think tank with significant influence on academics, policies, society and international community. On the basis of standardized, institutionalized and scientific operation, and by virtue of multi-disciplinary studies of regional economics, political economy, political science, management and industrial economics in Tsinghua University, ITS’s mission is to develop talents, to produce high-quality policy study and academic research, and to build a high-end platform for cross-strait exchanges.
Under the new situation and new tasks, Tsinghua ITS effectively integrates research resources and further deepen cross-strait collaboration in economy and industry, in order to contribute both theoretically and practically to cross-strait economic integration, peaceful development, and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
The Research Base for Cross-Strait Economy and Industry was established in the Institute of Taiwan Studies in October 2014, with the approval from the Taiwan Work Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. It is under joint leadership of the Taiwan Work Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.
