Center for Science & Technology Development and Governance, Tsinghua University (THUSTDG) is a nonprofit research institution jointly sponsored by the China Association for Science and Technology and Tsinghua University. Affiliated with Tsinghua University's School of Public Policy and Management, THUSTDG collaborates with the School of Social Sciences and the School of Life Sciences to conduct scientific research, strategic consulting, and talent development programs.
Aligned with the national agenda to enhance governance systems and capacities, THUSTDG focuses on scientific research in science and technology development governance, policy analysis, and ethical risk assessment. It also fosters innovative talent and provides decision support in governance. Moreover, THUSTDG facilitates collaboration among government bodies, private sectors, and social organizations in science and technology development and governance.
Through organizational synergy, institutional innovation, policy support and resource integration, THUSTDG aims to become a leading national think tank on science and technology governance. It aspires to influence legislation, policies, standards, and norms governing scientific research management. Moreover, the Center aims to bolster international collaboration, foster the creation of pertinent institutions, platforms, and systems in the global arena of science and technology (S&T) governance.
It seeks to enhance dialogue and cooperation between China and other advanced nations with notable S&T development and governance experience. By advocating China's perspectives on global S&T governance, the Center aims to offer robust academic leadership and intellectual support in fulfilling national strategic objectives of comprehensive reform, positioning China as a world leader in science and technology, and fostering a global community of shared prosperity.
Simultaneously, THUSTDG is dedicated to serving the strategic decision-making needs of the nation. It aligns its efforts with China's future five-year plans for science and technology development, as well as international medium- and long-term strategic agendas in S&T. Collaboratively addressing strategic issues and challenges in scientific and technological governance, it provides invaluable insights, situational analysis, and timely policy recommendations to inform national strategies.
THUSTDG’s endeavor is to establish a distinctively Chinese model of scientific and technological governance think tanks and groups, garnering international recognition and impact.
