On December 17th, under the course of Economics Development: Theory and Practice, a total of 30 international students from MID and MIDG programs visited Huawei. This field trip was also just in time for the World Internet Exposition in Wuzhen, China, which provided international students an opportunity to understand Chinese economic development, especially in the telecom industry. This field trip was led by the course professor, YU Qiao, and Associate Dean, Ms. MENG Bo.
Mr. KONG Yu, vice president of Huawei’s public & government affair department as well as the department director, Ms. YU Fang, and Ms. YANG Yangyang, the Beijing Office representative warmly hosted all of the students. The trip started off with the digital display at the exhibit hall with elaborate instructions and demos where students got to learn and understand Huawei’s technology concepts and business. Afterwards, Mr. KONG Yu hosted a seminar to provide a presentation regarding the company oversea business and development with a Q&A session. International students raised the questions regarding Huawei’s innovation, development strategies, relations with governments, and career opportunities. Mr. KONG Yu hosted this session and answered the questions one by one carefully.
After the trip finishes, international students highly perceived this opportunity of visiting a world class corporation which helped them to understand one perspective of China’s development practice outside the classroom.
