On March 25, 2016, the School of Public Policy and Management held the No. 111 Mingde forum at room 302. World Bank senior economist Mr. Douglas Zhihua Zeng was invited to share his latest research on the topic “Chinese Economy: Current Challenges and Future Pathway---Is China Facing a Hard Landing or Soft Landing?” The forum was hosted by SPPM’s professor WANG Youqiang. Over 40 Chinese and international students attended the lecture.
During the lecture, Mr. Zeng introduced China’s current economy and made comparison with other countries. He also shared China’s new development strategies and its rebalancing government role. In order to further boom China’s economy, he suggested that China should promote green growth and sustainable urbanization, and improve product quality and standards are one of the key factors of the economy development.
Mr. Douglas Zhihua Zeng is one of the leading World Bank senior economist and one of the founders of the World Bank "Knowledge and Development" project. With over 20 years of working experiences in East Asia (including China), Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and the Middle East and North Africa, he is a global expert on macroeconomic policy, innovation, special economic zones, clusters, competiveness and knowledge economy.
