SPPM Commencement for 2016 Summer Semester was held on July 2nd in the auditorium of the school. Faculties, grads and family members witnessed this important and cheerful event. Professor Xue Lan, Dean of SPPM, Associate Professor Guo Yong, Party Secretary of SPPM and alumni attended this commencement.
The host, Deputy Party Secretary Xie Jin, warmly welcomed all the participants and congratulated all the graduates in her opening remarks. Professor Wu Yongping, the Chairman of the School Sub-degree Committee announced the degrees conferred for this semester. 146 graduates received their degrees and became SPPM alumni, which include 14 PhDs in Management Science, 35 Masters of Management Science, 85 Masters of Public Administration (MPA) and 12 Masters of Public Administration in International Development (MID).
After that, all the graduates made a solemn vow. In addition to the commencement addressed by two graduates, one Chinese and one international graduate, and their recognition of the school, the ceremony included the announcement of this year’s Award of Excellence recipients. The honor, which was created in order to recognize and encourage academic excellence, included “Outstanding Thesis Award”, “Learning for Practice Award”, “Best Internship Award” and “Public Service Award".

Mr. Chen You’an, Vice Chairman of Central Huijin Investment Ltd. talked about his experience in the career and gave advice to the grads who are about to start their own career soon. He also encouraged SPPM grads to be creative, responsible, diligent and passionate.
Dean Xue Lan delivered a keynote speech and encouraged the graduates to fulfill the school’s motto “cultivating the morality to serve the public in the society” after graduation. He advised the graduates to adhere to such ideals and apply public management knowledge in making the right judgments and choices.
