On May 29, United Nations’ senior translator, Mr. CAO Guozhong visited SPPM for Career Workshop Series. On the topic of “Starting from Tsinghua Univeristy”, Mr. Cao advised almost 20 SPPM’s international students for career development. On the basis of Tsinghua University’s motto, “Self-discipline and social commitment”, he talked about how the traditional Chinese culture and value apply to personal career development. In addition, he gave more practical suggestions for students according to his years of work experience at UN. The students raised many questions regarding how to get into the big international organizations. SPPM’s Deputy Party Secretary, Associate Professor, XIE Jin, hosted this event.
Mr. CAO Guozhong studied in the English program from 1985 to 1989 at Beijing Foreign Studies University. In 1989-1991 he attended the United Nations Interpreter and Translator Training class and was awarded the Master's degree. After graduation, he worked in the field of international communication for nearly nine years. He was the consultant for Mr. LIU Qi who was Mayor of Beijing to host the first Beijing Mayor International Entrepreneur Advisory Council. He has been a translator at the United Nations since March, 2000. From May, 2013, he became SPPM’s short-term visiting scholar.
