The Tsinghua SPPM Film Society brings together students from different backgrounds to build international cultural dialogue through the analysis of the films they screen. This semester, FS held five screenings of a diverse array of films. To kick off, FS screened Last Train Home, a timely documentary about the long journey home for China's migrant workers during Chinese New Year. To follow FS graced its loyal fans with Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, a class American western, When We Were Kings about Mohammed Ali's famous "rumble in the jungle", and Red Sorghum as a tribute to renowned Chinese director Zhang Yimou. On the evening of June 20th, FS ended another successful semester with Waiting for Superman, a documentary about the failures of the American education system. The Tsinghua SPPM Film Society looks forward to another year of film appreciation and thoughtful discussions!
