From August 28 to September 2, 17 students of MID 2014 class completed the registration at Tsinghua University and officially became SPPMers. The 17 students are from 16 countries, 5 continents, which make the 2014 class the most diversified one in MID history. Among the new students, there are not only students from new countries, such as Ecuador, Hungary, Laos, Mauritiuss, and Romania, but also students from BRICS countries including Brazil, India and Russia. Although the average age of the class is 25, they came from world-renowned universities, like Oxford University, University of Toronto, University of Utah, University of Sydney, and so on. In addition, a few graduated from China’s universities, like Dalian Medicine University and University of International Business and Economics. The new class studied International Relations, Political Science, History, Language, Economics, Communication and other majors.

From September 3 to 10, MID 2014 class participated in the one-week orientation. On September 4, SPPM’s Dean, Professor XUE Lan, and Associate Dean, Ms. MENG Bo, both met the new students at the program opening ceremony. They introduced the school and program roundly, encouraged the new students to cherish their opportunities of studying at Tsinghua University, and wished them to become international development professionals who understand China’s development experience after two years. On September 5 and 10, the new MID students joined the icebreaking and mixer with Chinese students, which made them know Chinese students well. In the future, they will sit in the same classes to study together. In addition, 4 Chinese master students were recruited as MID program certificate students.
