On November 26, 8 MID students visited Save the Children China Program, Beijing Office. As one field trip of China Development: Field Trip Series course, this activity aimed to help MID students know better of international NGO’s operation in China, and get deeper understanding of development issues through on-site teaching.
Save the Children’s M&E Specialist, Ms. QIN Xiaojie, first introduced the organization's history and China program briefly. After that, she used the Xinjiang project as a case. MID students were asked to discuss the viable factors of project implementation. Three groups did the presentation to show their brainstorming results. Ms. WU concluded their statements and explained how they implemented the project in reality. In the end, Save the Children Deputy County Director, Ms. WANG Le, introduced the challenges that the organization was facing now and answered students’ questions.
Save the Children is an independent children charity organization, founded in 1920 in UK. In 1980s, Save the Children launched the China program. After over 20 years, it has covered 11 proviences, including children health, education, protection, and other projects. Two of MID 2013 Class are interning at the organization now, who initiated the trip to provide an opportunity for MID students to apply their public administration knowledge to solve the real development issues. Such a trip was of great help for their future study and career.
