Dr. Hongchuan Wang is Assistant Professor at the School of Public Policy & Management, Tsinghua University and a research fellow at the Institute for Contemporary China Studies, Tsinghua University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Public Administration from the School of Public Policy & Management, Tsinghua University. He was a visiting scholar at Harvard University in the United States from 2013 to 2014. He served as a research associate in Management Science and Engineering at Tsinghua University.

Dr. Wang has presided over eight national scientific research grants, including general and youth grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Ministry of Education’s Humanities and Social Sciences Foundation, and special and first-class grants from the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, etc. He has also led over ten projects commissioned by central government agencies such as the Central Publicity Department, and the National Development and Reform Commission etc.

He has published over 50 academic papers in both Chinese and English, with over 10 English papers published as the first author or corresponding author in SSCI/SCI leading journals such as Lancet Public Health, Governance, Transport Research Part D, and Social Indicators Research. He has also published 27 Chinese papers in CSSCI journals such as Management World and Educational Research, and 12 papers reprinted in prominent Chinese publications such as Xinhua Digest and Chinese Social Science Digest.

He has published over sixty think tank reports, including reports from the Tsinghua University Think Tank and the “National Situation Report” series. Several policy reports have influenced policy making in central government. Many consulting reports have been adopted by the General Office of the Central Committee, the National High-End Think Tank Council of the Central Publicity Department, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Education, the National Health Commission, etc. He has also published over ten important theoretical articles and commentary articles in national influential newspapers such as “Guangming Daily” (front page), “Economic Daily” (theoretical edition), and “People’s Daily”.

He has received honors such as the Excellent Achievement Award in the Sixth National Education Science Research, the Outstanding Paper Award from the China Association for Economic Development, and scholarships including the National Scholarship, the National Development Research Scholarship, the Southwest United University National Scholarship, and the Outstanding Graduate of Beijing. Additionally, he has been awarded titles such as Outstanding Instructor for Tsinghua University Student Social Practice and Outstanding Instructor for Tsinghua University’s Compulsory Social Practice for doctoral students.
