On October 17th, 14 international students form SPPM had one day culture experience in Beijing. Students first arrived at Shunyi district to visit Master Wen Qiangang Studio, a carved lacquer ware workshop and Master Zhang Tonglu Studio, a cloisonné arts workshop.
Both of the maters enjoy renowned reputation and received many awards in China and abroad. The delicate craft technology and exquisite arts products aroused students’ strong interest. They kept taking photos and raised questions about the process of making these handcrafts.
In the afternoon, students moved to Baigongfang in southeastern area of Beijing, which is considered as a living handcrafts museum and Arts & Crafts Emporium, to visit Beijing Gift exhibition.
Through this interactive tour, students got to know about great artistic skills in Beijing and had a better understanding of Chinese traditional arts and crafts. Meanwhile, they also experienced the process of making some artistic products, such as inside painted snuff bottle and paper cutting.
