On March 10th, MID2013 Alumnus, Hubert Thieriot presented his thoughts on Water-Energy-Climate in China for MIDialogue. Hubert graduated in 2015, and currently focuses on issues pertaining to the water-energy nexus at China Water Risk, a Hong Kong based, non-profit initiative dedicated to addressing business & environmental risks arising from China’s water crisis.
During the MIDialogue, Hubert briefly talked about China’s energy development and pollutions, and mainly focused on water pollution. MID students raised questions regarding their studies. More importantly, Hubert kindly shared valuable tips for current students studying and working in China. He suggested students trying different things but not only for those ones that they are interested in. According to his experience of finding internship and job in China, he emphasized that good Chinese became more and more important for foreigners in China. For networking, he encouraged students to go outside the campus to join different communities.
15 internationals students participated in the activity and leaned valuable experience from alumnus. MIDialogue is a platform that aims to provide an informal setting in which SPPM faculty and alumni can share their experience and advice with future practitioners.
