Q: What is the admission schedule for MID application?
A: From September 2018, the MID program will be updated into a dual master program, namely Master of Public Policy for Sustainable Development Goals (MPP-SDG). The MID program will not recruit new students from 2018. The admission for MPP-SDG application starts from November 2 to April 30.

Candidates of MPP-SDG dual master program could apply the CGS through Chinese Embassy in the home country rather than Tsinghua University. The application schedule varies from country to country (usually from November to April). Please consult the Chinese Embassy/ Consulate about its application schedule and requirements.
Q: If I have work experience, can I submit a recommendation letter from employer?
A: Yes.
Q: Do you offer TA and RA positions?
A: Each semester, there are a few TA and RA opportunties for registered MPP-SDG students. Please check after registration.
Q: If I were admitted, when can I register?
A: Due to Tsinghua University’s registration policy, international students are only allowed to register in fall semester.
Q: Can I submit bachelor degree after admitted?
A: If students will get the degree after admission, a certificate stating when you will graduate is required during application.
Q: Is there an examination or interview conducted after the submission of application documents for all the postgraduate applicants?
A: An interview may be conducted. You will be further notified by the school/department about the interview if necessary.

Q: Which kind of English certificate should I submit?
A: For the non-native speakers, your English certificate can only be waived if you were awarded a bachelor degree from an English-speaking country (USA, UK, and etc.), or your undergraduate study was taught in English, which requires an official letter from the undergraduate university to prove. MPP-SDG Program only accepts TOEFL (92 or higher) or IELTS (7.0 or higher) as English certificate.
Q: How can I apply for the visa coming to China?
A: To obtain a legal visa to come to China to study, please consult with China's Embassy in your home country. If you have already been in China, please consult with local Bureau of Exit and Entry, Administration of the Public Security.
Q: Do you have any format requirements for recommendation letter?
A: No.
Q: What should I write for the personal statement?
A: The personal statement should be over 2 pages. We want to know your background, research interests, career plan, why do you want to apply for MID program, and etc.
Q: Can I defer my registeration to next semester or next year?
A: According to Tsinghua's academic regulations, once students are officially admitted to the program, they cannot defer their registeration to the university to next semester regardless of the situation. Students can only register in the fall, and their admissions will only be valid for the current term. If emergencies occur, students have to re-apply to the program.
Q: If I cannot register on time, can I extend my registration?
A: Students are required to register on time. Graduate School can accept extension of registration no more than 2 weeks only for the reasn of severe illness. After registration date two weeks, Graduate School will not accept registration any more.
